LOL Elmo Review (Hasbro)

What It Is

LOL Elmo is the newest Elmo toy from Hasbro's Playskool brand. Virtually everyone remembers the Tickle Me Elmo from 1996. Well, Elmo still loves to laugh. LOL Elmo has three tickle points: feet and tummy. Tickle Elmo at any of these points to watch him giggle and wiggle. Elmo also tells jokes. Squeeze and hold a foot for about three seconds and the toy will enter joke mode. Elmo will keep telling jokes (Why did the cookie have to go to the doctor? Because he felt crummy!) whenever you tickle his feet or tummy. To return to regular giggling mode, just let the toy sit for about five seconds. Elmo will remind kids to engage in joking play, but if you leave him for another five seconds, he'll go back to the basic mode. LOL Elmo also comes with a stuffed version of his fish pal Dorothy. Squeeze Dorothy's bowl to activate Elmo's laughter.

Is It Fun?

LOL Elmo's infectious laugh will keep everyone in stitches. Over the past 16 years, this has become classic Elmo play and it doesn't get old.

Who It’s For

LOL Elmo is for ages 18 months and up.

What To Be Aware Of

LOL Elmo comes with four AA batteries that power the in-store try-me features. It is recommended that you replace them before you play for best results. Also make sure you slide the toy's switch from Try-Me to On to activate the toy's full features. If you find that the toy doesn't perform well, it may be time to change the batteries.

This isn't a cuddly Elmo. The mechanism is quite hard, so if your kids are looking for a take-to-bed Elmo, Hasbro has several really cuddly options available.

LOL Elmo has an auto-off to save battery life and shuts down after about 15-20 seconds of inactivity. You can activate him again by pressing one of his feet.

Dorothy's bowl needs to be no more than six inches away for LOL Elmo to recognize it and start laughing.
