DUB Garage Beat Makerz Review (Toy State)

What It Is

The DUB Garage toy line is the result of a partnership between Toy State and DUB Magazine, a magazine devoted to custom car culture. DUB Garage toy cars capture DUB's signature wide-body styling and authentic accessories such as Dropstars and TIS (Twenty Inches Strong) rim designs, and Pirelli tire treads, Eibach springs, and Borla exhaust sounds. The DUB Garage Beat Makerz let kids create their own beats as they push along these freewheeling vehicles. Mix it up with realistic sound effects using a custom "sound board". The cars also have lights and vocal phrases. There are two styles available: DUB Edition DI331 (muscle car) and DUB Edition DL4 (luxury car). Each is sold separately.

Is It Fun?

The DUB Garage Beat Makerz cars add a fun new element to classic car play. Essentially, these cars let kids pretend to be DJs. The combination of DJ play and car play is a little odd to us because most kids want to pretend to drive a car around and not be a DJ with a car. But some kids will think it's cool to add music to their car play.

At the same time, anyone who has ever seen (or more likely heard) a car tricked out with a booming sound system, will understand that some kids might want to simulate this in play.

Who It’s For

DUB Garage Beat Makerz are for ages 6 and up.
