Color Wonder Light-Up Paint Palette Review (Crayola)

What It Is

Color Wonder has been an incredibly popular innovation for Crayola that lets kids paint, draw, and color on special paper with colors that only show up on that paper. It won't mark walls, skin, or clothing. The Color Wonder Light-Up Paint Palette comes with a paint palette, a strip of Color Wonder paints, a paintbrush, and 20 sheets of paper. Place the paint pods into the palette. Turn on the palette, and open up the paint pods. You won't be able to tell which color is what because the Color Wonder paints have no color until you see it on the paper. Take the paintbrush, holding it by the black grips, and dip it into the paint. The palette "magically" changes color to the paint you've got on your brush. When you paint on the paper, you will see that color show up. There is a sponge in the middle of the palette to clean off your brush in between colors.

Is It Fun?

We really like the level of fun and simple magic this brings to creative arts and crafts play. And parents will like that their child can paint and create with no mess.

Who It’s For

The Color Wonder Light-Up Paint Palette is for ages 5 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

The brush is stiff and fairly coarse, so kids won't be doing a lot of detailed painting. It will be most appropriate for younger kids who like painting on the paper and watching the colors appear.

The colors will blend as kids paint.

Three AA batteries are required but not included.

Make sure the paint pods have been inserted tightly into the palette to keep them stable and to make sure the unit works correctly.

Rinse the brush in plain water as soon as you're done painting.

Additional Color Wonder paper and paints are also available and sold separately.
