Cool Baker Cake Pop Maker Review (Spin Master)

What It Is

With the Cool Baker Cake Pop Maker, kids can make, decorate, and eat cake pops with no baking required. Just set up the Cake Pop Maker and tray. Mix one pouch of cake mix (which makes four cake pops) and two spoonfuls of warm water in the bowl. Scoop the batter into the top of the batter tank. Turn the batter tank crank to fill each sphere of the cake pop tray. Insert sticks into the holes on each sphere, then place the cake pop tray in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Once done, remove the cake pops from the tray and decorate with icing and sprinkles.

To make the icing, mix one icing mix pouch with one spoonful of warm water. Pour the icing into the small bowl. Gently dip the cake pop into the icing and turn it until it is fully coated. You can also add candy-themed tags to the cake pop sticks for extra decoration.

The Cool Baker Cake Pop Maker comes with two white cake mix pouches, one white icing mix pouch, one brown icing mix pouch, one pouch of pink sprinkles, one pouch of blue sprinkles, one pouch of rainbow sprinkles, four recipe cards, 16 tags, eight sticks, one tray, two sprinkle stencils, a small bowl, a large bowl, a spoon, and a spatula.

Is It Fun?

In 2012, cake pops are a huge trend for snackers of many ages, and this set lets kids make their very own cake pops right at home. We like that an oven is not required, and that you don't have to wait too long before the cake pops are ready to decorate and eat. However, because you don't bake them, they won't have the same taste and texture as a regular cake. They still taste fine, and the icing was delicious.

Who It’s For

The Cool Baker Cake Pop Maker is for ages 6 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Adult assembly and supervision is required.

This is a very messy set, though it's easy to use. You'll probably want to wear an apron to protect your clothing, and make sure you use this in an area where leaks and spills can easily be cleaned up. We had some trouble getting our icing to be the right consistency. If you come upon problems, such as runny icing, there are troubleshooting tips in the instruction booklet.

Additional cake mix packets are sold separately.

Do not put the Cake Pop Maker or plastic parts in the dishwasher, microwave, or oven.

The cake pops contain milk and may contain egg, soy, wheat, and nuts.
