LEGO Monster Fighters Vampyre Castle Review (LEGO)

What It Is

The Vampyre Castle is one of the lead items in the LEGO Monster Fighters line, with characters and storylines inspired by classic horror fiction and films. This 949-piece set lets kids build a castle scene for the final showdown with the vampyre. The vampyre has gathered all six moonstones at his castle and is about to cloak the world in darkness forever so that his followers can roam free for the rest of eternity, or so the story goes. Kids must help Dr. Rodney Rathbone and Jack McHammer survive the castle's hidden spikes and traps to disable the moonstone device. The Vampyre Castle features the moonstone device, shooting spiders, hidden spikes, a trapdoor, stairs, secret entrances, a coffin, an organ, and a dungeon. Kids will also build a hero car with net launcher. Six minifigures are included: Rodney Rathbone, Jack McHammer, the Vampyre, the Vampyre's bride, and two manbats. Four weapons are also included. As with other sets in this series, there are glow-in-the-dark elements to add more dramatic play.

Is It Fun?

After building this dramatic model, there are plenty of features to enhance creative, narrative-based play. This set is designed for 360-degree play so multiple kids can play together. This is classic play done with lots of detail and creativity. Kids who are into the Monster Fighters line will really enjoy this set.
