Sonny the Seal Review (Goliath Games)

What It Is

Sonny the Seal is a ring toss game from Goliath Games. Switch on the On/Off switch on its side and Sonny's head will begin to move back and forth and up and down. The object of the game is to toss rings around Sonny. Each time a child successfully tosses a ring, the ring will hit Sonny's tail and Sonny will clap and squeal in applause. Players will also be rewarded with a fish piece each time they score. Whoever gets the most rings around Sonny's neck wins the game.

Players can also play a variation of the basketball game Horse, in which players take turns tossing rings around Sonny's neck to spell out "Sonny." Each time they score they earn another letter in the word. The first player to spell out the word, wins the game.

Is It Fun?

Like all the games from Goliath, this game has a high silly factor that will entertain and delight kids and adds an active twist to classic ring toss games. Sure, they enjoy scoring, but they also will get a kick out of all the motion and the cute character. We also like that you can play different variations of the game to make it more or less challenging depending on the age of a child. For example, in the Horse variation, older kids can take a step back each time they toss to make the game more challenging.

Who It’s For

Sonny the Seal is for ages 4 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Three AA batteries are required but not included.

Goliath suggests playing from about three feet away, but for younger kids this may be too much of a distance so do whatever works best for your child.
