Dora the Explorer Let's Play Backpack—Duo Powered is part of Discovery Bay Games' line of Duo game accessories for the iPad. The Let's Play Backpack accessory is compatible with the Dora Let's Play Backpack—Duo app, which is free to download in the Apple App Store. The app features games that reinforce matching, listening, and logic skills as well as Spanish language. The app includes four adventures: Let's Listen, Let's Pack, Let's Match, and Say It Two Ways. Each adventure has three different games. Additional adventures can be purchased within the app.
To play, download the free app and open it on your iPad. Turn on the backpack accessory and place it on the iPad. Then select an adventure and game within the app. In each game, players are presented with two choices that show up on the iPad screen. There are two spots on top of the backpack: green and orange. Players place tokens on the spot that matches the color of the correct answer. The top of the backpack accessory will spin and collect tokens for each correct answer, meaning no need for scorekeeping or counting. The player that gets rid of the most tokens wins.
Let's Play Backpack comes with 14 tokens, the backpack device, and an instructions sheet. The tokens can be stored inside the backpack accessory when you've finished playing. The app games are designed for two players or groups.
Dora the Explorer Let's Play Backpack—Duo Powered turns traditional screen time into engaging family time on the iPad. The backpack accessory adds a new element to playing iPad games and turns the iPad into a tabletop game board that can be played by the whole family.
The gameplay is pretty much the same throughout the app, with players choosing the correct answer out of two choices. But we think young Dora the Explorer fans who already enjoy playing games on Mom and Dad's iPad will be fascinated by the electronic backpack accessory and watching their tokens disappear inside the backpack.
Dora the Explorer Let's Play Backpack—Duo Powered is for Dora fans ages 3 and up.
Three AA batteries are required but not included.
After 15 minutes of inactivity, the backpack will go to sleep and stop responding. To wake it up, turn the switch to Off then back to Play.
To empty the tokens from the backpack, turn the switch to Empty. The top will rotate to reveal one opening. Turn over the backpack to dump the tokens out through that opening.
It takes about 10 minutes to get the Let's Play Backpack accessory set up. The download time for the Let's Play Backpack—Duo app will depend on the speed of your internet connection.
