Freaky Friends is a new marble game that is inspired by the fascination today's kids have with zombies, werewolves, and vampires. The game sets feature Zombie, Werewolf, Alien, Vampire, Mummy, and Swamp Thing themes. Each theme has a different color, so when you are playing together, players know whose marble are whose.
Marbles were a huge sensation in the U.S. in the 1920s and into the 1930s. The basic game uses a shooter marble and smaller marbles called players. Draw a 10-foot circle with chalk and place 13 marbles in an X shape in the center. Use the shooter to shoot at the marbles inside the ring, trying to knock out the marbles. The first player to knock seven marbles out of the ring wins the game. If playing "Keepsies", the winners of each game keep all of the played marbles. If playing "Friendlies", all the players get their marbles back at the end of each game, win or lose.
Each Freaky Friends marble set is sold in a "marble net" (a mesh bag) with 24 player marbles and one shooter marble. It's easy to tie the bag for storage after play.
It's not likely that many kids will have played traditional marbles games, so these may be a bit of a novelty. With its decoration—and capitalizing on the trend for the supernatural—Freaky Friends adds a fun twist to the classic game of marbles. What we think is so amusing with Freaky Friends is that it tries to revitalize this very classic game that dates back to the earliest days of history with a romantic vampire and scary creatures theme.
Freaky Friends is for ages 5 and up.
These are traditional glass marbles. Keep them away from small children.
There are fun facts inside of the marble package.
