Imaginext Eagle Talon Castle Review (Fisher-Price)

What It Is

The Imaginext Eagle Talon Castle is a huge playset that is packed with fun and features that, like all the Imaginext toys, puts the child's imagination at the center of the play experience. The playset opens up to a full three feet in length, and kids can configure it in different ways. The play is classic fun where the knights have to protect the battlements from any kind of foes, and it's all been designed to work with preschool-sized hands. The big transformations happen when you place one of the figures on the transforming discs and turn them. In an instant, the castle is protected and the front of the castle transforms into an eagle. The castle also includes what Fisher-Price calls Action Tech, a system that allows the castle to recognize other play pieces, such as the cannon. Fire a projectile at the castle, and the castle responds with sounds. The drawbridge makes noise as it's raised and lowered, and there are breakaway wall pieces so that invaders can "crash" into the castle. The castle also has secret compartments, a jail cell with a breakaway escape wall, disc catapults, three Imaginext knight figures, and lots of accessories to keep kids engaged and imagining. When play is done, the castle folds back up. All of the pieces can store inside the castle when it's folded, and though they aren't secured, they will all be together the next time the castle is under siege. The set works with all other Imaginext figures.

Is It Fun?

The Imaginext Eagle Talon Castle has a lot of great features and action as well as a preschooler's sense of humor. There's a high level of detail that is built in to all the possible play scenarios with this playset. This is great for solo or group play, and kids can use Imaginext figures or any other toys and figures that they have as they create the kind of exciting, narrative-based play that makes all of Imaginext toys so much fun.

Who It’s For

The Imaginext Eagle Talon Castle is for ages 3–8.

What To Be Aware Of

There are a lot of pieces that come with this set, which is great. They can all fit inside the castle when play is done. However, since the castle is open, they won't stay secure inside. You may want to keep a plastic bag with the set for the extra pieces.

Assembly is required, and it took us 25 minutes to set up, including applying labels and installing batteries. Two AA and three button cell batteries are included, but these are for in-store try-me purposes, and Fisher-Price recommends replacing them before you play for best results.
