Don’t Rock the Boat Review (PlayMonster)

What It Is

In Don't Rock the Boat, players must balance their pirate penguins on the ship without making it tip. Balance the boat on top of the water piece. Then, have each player take four pirate penguins. The first player places a penguin on the ship. Moving to the left, each player takes turns putting one penguin on the ship at a time. Players can place their penguins on the ship wherever they want, but they can't rock the boat. When someone rocks the boat and one or more penguins fall overboard, that ends the game. The last player who placed a penguin on the ship before the player who rocked the boat wins. The game comes with a ship with three masts, a two-piece water wave, and 16 pirate penguins. It is for two to four players.

Is It Fun?

This is a classic skill and action game in the vein of Tip-It, Jenga and other games that combine strategy with chance. Don't Rock the Boat is a game of balance on the high seas with cute pirate penguin figures. The game play is easy, but figuring out the best spots on the ship to place your penguins can be challenging. Players must think strategically in order to retain the ship's balance and keep their penguins on board. Kids love the process of the game play as they get more and more penguins on board the boat, and it becomes increasingly obvious that it's going to tip at any moment.
