Cluck N Chuck Review (PlayMonster)

What It Is

The object of Cluck 'N' Chuck is to get rid of all your chickens before they fly the coop. Every player randomly takes nine chickens. (Any extra chickens get put aside.) Each player should line up three of the nine in a row away from their pile. The youngest player presses down on the chicken coop, which is actually a timer. This begins the play time. The first player rolls the die, which will land on a color. If one of his chickens matches the color on the die, he tosses that chicken on top of the coop. Then he grabs another chicken from his pile to replace the one he just got rid of. That player keeps rolling and tossing in chickens until he can't match a chicken to the color on the die.

If the die doesn't match any of the die roller's chickens, then that player can look to the other players to see if they have a match. If so, the roller passes the die to the first person on his left with a matching color. That player gets to chuck his chicken onto the coop and then roll until he doesn't get a color match.

If the die doesn't match any player's chickens, pass the die to the player on the left.

Eventually, the coop will jump up and the chickens will go flying. The player in possession of the die must gather the chickens from the tray and those that flew off and take three of them to add to his pile. The rest of the chickens go out of play. The player with the die starts the game again by pressing down on the coop.

Cluck 'N' Chuck comes with a chicken coop, 36 chickens, and a die. The game is for two to four players.

Is It Fun?

This is a classic skill and action game for preschoolers. This color matching game is a lot of silly fun. The pace is fast, which encourages kids to find the color matches quickly and pass on the die so they aren't the last one with the die when the coop pops up. Kids will think it's funny and surprising when the coop pops up and the chickens go flying.
