Shapes Circus Review (Wizard Interactive)

What It Is

Shapes Circus is a circus-themed shape-matching app game. Children are shown five colorful shapes and one white shape. The game asks kids to find the colored shape that will match the white shape. The game also says the name of the shape out loud. Kids then drag the correct shape and drop it into the white shape's space. If kids find the correct shape, they will hear applause, and another screen will appear with five more shapes, asking kids to find a specific shape. If kids don't find the correct shape, the shape they've dragged will go back down with the other colored shapes, and kids must try again. Each screen is accompanied by circus music and sound effects. After getting three shapes in a row correct, the child gets to pick a digital sticker to place in the Circus Tent scene. Kids can play in the Circus Tent and move their stickers around or continue matching shapes. Once kids have earned all 20 stickers, they can play the shape-matching game again and earn the stickers all over again.

Is It Fun?

This app is a cute and fun way to help preschoolers improve their shape recognition. Children will like earning stickers when they make correct matches and populating the Circus Tent scene with the stickers. This is really a two-in-one app with the option to play the matching game and play in the Circus Tent scene. Kids will enjoy creating their own circuses with the stickers in the Circus Tent.

Who It’s For

Shapes Circus is for ages 2–6.

What To Be Aware Of

Shapes Circus is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It requires iOS 5.0 or later.

After you've placed a sticker in the Circus Tent, there is no way to directly go back to the shape-matching game. You have to go to the main menu and then tap "play now."

After you've received all 20 stickers, you can't play with them in the Circus Tent. The only option is to tap "play again," which clears the Circus Tent of all stickers. You must then play again to earn back the stickers.
