Barbie: The Princess and the Popstar Musical Light-Up Castle Review (Mattel)

What It Is

The Musical Light-Up Castle is based on the new Barbie DVD The Princess and the Popstar. The new movie, which comes out in September, is about a princess, Tori, who wants to be a popstar and a popstar, Keira, who dreams of becoming a princess. With a little magic, the two girls end up switching roles.

The Musical Light-Up Castle playset comes with two four-inch dolls with removable skirts and doll stands. Press a doll on each staircase step to hear a musical note play. Press the heart-shaped button on the floor to hear the movie's theme song play and watch the staircases light up. The closet door opens and there is a spinning fairy at the top of the castle. The castle includes six pieces of furniture. When playtime is over, simply fold up the castle and store everything inside.

Is It Fun?

With the Musical Light-Up Castle, kids can recreate scenes from Barbie: The Princess and the Popstar or imagine all-new musical adventures for Tori and Keira. This is a cute playset that brings the magic and the music of the movie to life.

More than that, though, it's a classic dollhouse, and it has lots of different rooms and levels, which appeal to girls in this kind of play environment and inspire lots of imaginative, narrative-based play.
