Putty Peeps Review (Color Your Time)

What It Is

Putty Peeps is a non-sticky, moldable putty. When the putty is played with, the heat from your hands turns it into a solid that can be stretched, shaped, snapped, and bounced. When the putty is left to rest, it takes on a liquid-like form and will seem to melt. However, the putty will not be wet or sticky. The putty can then be picked up and played with all over again. The putty will never dry out. Each 1.76-ounce tin of putty comes with a pair of eyes that kids can insert into the putty to create putty people and other characters.

There are three different Putty Peeps lines. The Metallic Color line includes metallic red, blue, green, purple, and silver putty. The Glow in the Dark line comes in blue, green, and yellow putty. With the Heat Sensitive Color Changing line, the heat in your hands (or hot and cold water) will change the putty from one color to another. Colors include green to yellow, purple to blue, orange to yellow, and purple to pink. Each Putty Peeps tin is sold separately.

Is It Fun?

Most people know Silly Putty, which has been around since 1950. The molding and stretching is fun and very tacticle, and it has a classic appeal. Putty Peeps has all of those fun elements, but it adds things like color, color change and matallics that appeal to kids and make this a collectible. The eyes give the putty some personality potential, makes it more different in the market and makes it consistent with the Peeps brand.

As with all versions of this classic, kids will have a great time stretching the putty, bouncing it, turning it into putty people, and using it in all sorts of imaginative ways.

Who It’s For

Putty Peeps is for ages 4 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

It's a little hard to get the putty out of the tins. You'll need to really dig in with your fingers to extract it. Once out of the tin, though, the putty is very easy to manipulate.

If the putty becomes dirty, it can be washed with warm water and dish soap.

If the putty drips onto carpets, it will not stick—unless the putty has been ground into the carpet. You can lift up the putty in one piece.
