GeoSafari Jr. Talking Bug Net Review (Educational Insights)

What It Is

With the GeoSafari Jr. Talking Bug Net, kids don't have to catch real bugs to learn about them. This toy net comes with six plastic bugs: praying mantis, spider, ladybug, grasshopper, bee, and butterfly. When you place one of the bugs in the net, the net knows what bug you've "caught". There are two modes of play. In Fun Facts mode, place a bug in the net to hear a fun fact about that bug. In Quiz mode, listen to the instructions and drop the right bug in the net. If you do, you'll get a congratulatory response. If you drop the incorrect bug into the net, it will give you one more try to find the right bug. After a second incorrect answer, the net will ask you a new question. There are also instructions for playing a group game with the Talking Bug Net. The net has more than 100 fun facts and quiz questions.

Is It Fun?

The GeoSafari Jr. Talking Bug Net is a way for young kids to explore the world of bugs without having to get up close and personal with real bugs. Kids will like how this interactive net recognizes the bugs and gives information on each bug. The net can also be used as a stand-alone roleplay item for kids who want to go on pretend bug hunts.

Who It’s For

The GeoSafari Jr. Talking Bug Net is for ages 4 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Three AAA batteries are required but not included.

In Fun Facts mode, only place one bug in the net at a time.

In Quiz mode, if you incorrectly answer a question two times, the net just moves on to another question without letting kids know what the correct bug should be. This may be frustrating for kids who want to know the right answer to the question.
