Air Hogs R/C Heli Cage Review (Spin Master)

What It Is

The Air Hogs R/C Heli Cage is a remote-control helicopter with a spherical cage around it. The cage, made up of rotor guards, protects the helicopter's main rotor from being damaged if it hits something while in flight. The remote control allows kids to steer the helicopter up and down or left and right. There is also a turbo button to make the helicopter fly at a fast speed. If the helicopter is spinning out of control, use the trim button on the controller to make the helicopter fly straight again. The controller also doubles as a charger for the Heli Cage's battery pack. The Heli Cage can be flown indoors or outdoors. The Air Hogs R/C Heli Cage comes with the Heli Cage, a controller/charger, spare tail rotors, a rotor removal tool, and an instruction guide.

Is It Fun?

The Air Hogs R/C Heli Cage offers better balance when flying than other Air Hogs helicopters. The cage allows the helicopter to always land upright after every crash landing. There is a learning curve to flying the Heli Cage. We found that after 10-15 minutes, we were flying the Heli Cage pretty well.

Who It’s For

The packaging says that Air Hogs R/C Heli Cage is for ages 8–10. However, we don't feel there is an age limit to who will enjoy flying this remote-controlled helicopter.

What To Be Aware Of

While this kind of play mostly appeals to boys, there's nothing to say that girls won't get a kick out of flying this as well.

Six AA batteries are required but not included. The Heli Cage comes with a Lithium Polymer battery.

It takes 30 minutes to charge the Heli Cage, and that will give you four to six minutes of flight time. It may not sound like a lot of flying time, but once you've kept this in the air for five minutes, it does feel like a long time.

Before you recharge the battery, wait 10-15 minutes to let the battery cool down.

For best lift-off results, put the helicopter on a smooth surface.

If flying the Heli Cage indoors, fly in a wide, open room away from breakable items.
