RingStix is a new game that combines a ring toss with the swashbuckling of a sword fight. It is played by two people passing a ring back and forth using two sticks (sort of in the shape of swords) per player. To launch the ring, place both sticks through the ring so that the sticks make an X. Next, pull the sticks quickly apart causing the ring to be launched into the air. The other player must try to catch the ring on one of his sticks. The game can be played anywhere outside, including in the water because the game components float. You can also play RingStix in the dark. The yellow ring glows in the dark when it is held to a light source, such as a lamp or the headlights of a car. The RingStix Pro set comes with a bag for storing the four sticks and two rings. It retails for about $29.99. The standard RingStix set comes with four sticks and two rings and retails for about $19.99.
This game is a lot of fun to play. There is a bit of a learning curve, but that's all part of the fun of playing. The game offers exercise, helps improve agility and hand-eye coordination, and, most importantly, is a great way to get kids outside and having fun.
RingStix is for ages 10 and up.
If you have multiple sets of RingStix, the game can be played with more than two people. The game can also be played solo, but we think it's more fun with other people.
Make sure you're playing in a large, open area outside because the rings will fly everywhere. It works best if the two players are at least seven yards away from each other.
The duration of the ring glowing depends upon the brightness of the light source and the duration of the exposure to light.
