LEGO Technic Crawler Crane Review (LEGO)

What It Is

The LEGO Technic Crawler Crane is a 218-piece building set with two ways to build. First, kids can build a mini crane and maneuver it into position, rotate the superstructure, and raise the boom. For an extra-long reach, extend the arm and lower the hook into position. The crane can be rebuilt into a bulldozer with a lowering blade and ripper.

Is It Fun?

Like all LEGO Technic building sets, the building system is slightly different than the familiar LEGO bricks. The Crawler Crane set uses pieces that include gears, lift arms, axles, and other elements to create models that don't just look great, they actually work. One of the reasons we like these models so much is that in addition to being fun to build, it helps kids understand the mechanical elements that bring these models to life.

Who It’s For

The LEGO Technic Crawler Crane is for ages 8–14. LEGO's Technic line caters more to advanced builders who enjoy the challenge of creating authentic models with detailed functionality that mimic their real-world counterparts.

What To Be Aware Of

The crane and the bulldozer cannot be built at the same time. You can only build one at a time because you'll be using the same pieces for both models. There are two assembly booklets, one for each model. The instructions are easy to follow and the results are great-looking and packed with play.

The crane measures 12 inches tall, four inches wide, and 11 inches long. The bulldozer measures three inches tall, four inches wide, and six inches long.
