LEGO Fusion Town Master is part of a new line of building sets that combines traditional LEGO construction play with a virtual world. The set comes with a mayor minifigure and 256 pieces for building a variety of storefronts that you can play with in the LEGO Fusion app game. Once you've purchased the Town Master set, download the free iOS and Android LEGO Fusion Town Master app. When you open the app, you'll be prompted to use the LEGO bricks to build different buildings and stores to help the mayor in the app create a town and keep its citizens happy.
To build a building, stack bricks on top of the capture plate to create the front of a building. It doesn't matter what your building front looks like so long as it has a door and is no more than 16 bricks high and 16 studs wide. When your building is done, use your device's camera to scan your building. The building will then appear in the game, and you can place it wherever you want.
As you play, the citizens will request specific buildings, such as a pizzeria, a bike shop, and a fire station. You'll also need to complete different errands and missions, such as catching robbers, fighting fires, and skateboarding, in order to earn more "studs," the in-game currency, and keep the citizens happy. With the "studs," you can buy water fountains, roadside fruit stands, and more items to spruce up your town. You'll also be able to unlock additional building types and even run additional towns.
You don't need to have your LEGO bricks with you to play. Your building fronts get saved in the app, so if you're playing the app on the go and a citizen wants a new store or you've got to quickly create a new building in order to complete a mission, simply choose one of the existing building fronts and add your new building into your town.
The LEGO Fusion app game is totally addicting, and kids will love getting creative in constructing the building fronts and creating the layout of the town. We like that the app can be played on the go but that when kids are playing with their LEGO bricks in front of them, the app prompts them to take a screen break every so often and build with the physical bricks. Kids can also add the Town Master bricks and mayor minifigure to other LEGO bricks and minifigures they may already own if they want to create and play in their own real-world LEGO town without the app.
LEGO Fusion Town Master is for ages 7-12.
For best scanning results, make sure your building isn't in front of a busy tablecloth pattern or cluttered background that could be picked up as part of the design. Also, make sure there's enough light in the room. And keep your hands steady.
Additional LEGO Fusion games include Battle Towers, Create & Race, and Resort Designer. Each is sold separately.
There are a few areas in the app that lead to the LEGO website, but you must answer a math equation in order to access the site.
The app is compatible with tablets and smartphones that have a built-in rear-facing camera and run iOS 7 or higher or Android 4.0.4 ARM V7 or higher. Supported devices include iPhone 4S and higher, iPod Touch 5th generation and higher (not including 16GB version), iPad 2 and higher, iPad mini, ASUS Nexus 7 (2nd generation), LG Nexus 4, Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" (3rd generation), Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 edition), Samsung Galaxy Note II, and the Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, and S5.
