Chatsters Gabby is an electronic interactive doll that responds to various accessories, engages kids in games and activities, and interacts with a free companion app. The doll has three sensors and two buttons that control the interactive play as well as a pair of glasses with high-resolution LED screens that function as Gabby's eyes but also play animations and can be used to play mini games.
When you turn on the doll, Gabby will move her head and arms and talk to you, but you can also press her lips to make her talk. She says more than 300 words and phrases. Gabby may also ask a question with two answer options, which will be shown on the screens in her glasses. To pick your answer, touch the left heart sensor on the glasses for the left option or the right heart sensor for the right option.
Gabby also comes with six interactive accessories: a cell phone, a cupcake, a drink, a dog, lipstick, and eye shadow. Hold any of these accessories to Gabby's lips, and the doll will respond.
Gabby will also randomly enter game and activity modes. Touch the left or right heart sensors that correspond with the game or activity you want to play. There are four games and four activities.
When you download the free iOS and Android app on your smartphone, you'll be able to "call" and "text" with Gabby, play games, and discover more of Gabby's features. However, the app was not available at the time of this review.
Kids will like the level of interactivity and the multiple ways to play with this doll. However, we wish there was a way to activate specific games and activities without having to wait around for Gabby to randomly choose the one we want to play. It took us 15 minutes of playing with Gabby before we were able to play the dance activity.
Chatsters Gabby is for ages 5 and up.
The doll requires four AA batteries, which are not included.
