Stop It! Review (Winning Moves)

What It Is

Stop It! is a fast-paced, quick-action card game from Winning Moves Games. The goal of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards or earn 50 points to win. The game features five colorful suites of cards in red, yellow, green, blue, and black numbered 1 to 10. Start the game by placing the Stop It cards at the center of the table. Then deal out the whole deck of cards.

There are no turns and players can jump in at any time to play. The game starts when one player puts down a card. Then whoever has the next card in color and numeric sequence slaps down their card, creating their own pile of cards played, which will be counted up later. Cards are worth different points such as five cards, which are considered bonus cards and each worth five points.

Any time a player can claim a Stop It! card to take the lead. This allows that player to start a new suite of numbered cards to hopefully accumulate more points and rid their hand of more cards. Use the Stop It! cards wisely though because you can only play one once per game.

The game can also come to a numerical stop without having to play a Stop Card! if, for example you've already played cards 8-10 in the red suite. A player then begins a new suite. Play continues until eventually someone clears their hand to win the game. You can count up your points and continue play until one player surpasses the 50 point mark or for a longer game raise the stakes to 75 or 100 points.

Is It Fun?

This is a fast-paced game, but the simple colors and numbers make it easy to follow. It does require a certain amount of dexterity and fast-thinking to win as well, but it only adds to the fun. We also think it can be slowed down to get younger family members involved in the play.

Who It’s For

Stop It! is for ages 8 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Always play with one Stop It! card less than the number of people playing.

This is a 3-5 player game, but it can be modified to play as a two-player game.
