Dinosaur Parade Review (Henry Holt and Company Books for Young Readers)

What It Is

Dinosaur Parade by Shari Halpern is a simple book filled with colorful illustrations of many different dinosaurs. The book starts with a little boy lining up his toy dinos to create a dinosaur parade. Then the illustrations switch to dinosaurs in more realistic settings and are accompanied by short rhyming copy that describes the dinosaurs. For example: "Here are some plant eaters. These eat meat! Some look scary. Some look sweet." Each of the illustrated dinosaurs is identified by name, and there are illustrations at the beginning and end of the book that also identify different dinosaurs. This includes the more common ones, such as the Stegosaurus and Triceratops, as well as more obscure ones like the Baryonyx and Maiasaura.
