Peanut Butter and Jellyfish Review (Alfred A. Knopf)

What It Is

Peanut Butter and Jellyfish are the best of friends. Together, they swim all over their ocean home and explore the many wonders of the sea. But when they swim near their neighbor Crabby, all they hear are insults such as, "You guys smell like rotten barnacles" and "I've seen snails swim with more style." They do their best to ignore Crabby, but it isn't easy. One day, they find a very scared Crabby caught in a lobster trap. As you can guess, the friends work hard to rescue Crabby. He realizes what a meanie he's been and apologizes to Peanut Butter and Jellyfish, who naturally befriend him.

Is It Fun?

Peanut Butter and Jellyfish is a sweet story with themes of friendship, kindness, bullying and acceptance. While we have heard many versions of the plot over the years, Peanut Butter and Jellyfish's story can be effective in teaching a lesson about bullying and friendship. The illustrations are by the award-winning Jarrett Krosoczka and are simply spectacular.
