Odd One Out: 8, 9 and 10 Review (Clavis Books)

What It Is

Odd One Out: 8, 9 and 10 is an 18-page board book about counting. Written and illustrated by Guido van Genechten, each page asks preschoolers to count and find certain animals. For example, on the page with ladybugs, kids must count the number of dots on each bug to find the ones who have four dots and the ones who have five. Kids are also asked to find animals with specific physical characteristics, such as the dog that is wagging its tail. On each page, there is only one animal carrying or wearing something in preparation for going to the beach. Kids can point them out as they read and see all of those animals playing at the beach at the end of the book.

Is It Fun?

This book is a cute way to help young kids practice counting numbers 1-10. The spot-the-difference element helps with cognitive development, and kids are also developing sorting and language skills.
