Syclone Review (MindWare)

What It Is

Syclone from Mindware is as its tagline describes it-an ultimate 3-D maze challenge. The game combines a basic spinning top with a game board maze stationed on a block of wood. There are two sides to the board you can play on, which vary in difficulty. The first side is called the Stratus, which is the easier of the two. It features three different levels of difficulty depending on your skill level and the route you chose to navigate. Or flip the board over and test your dexterity on the Seismic maze, which features tons of ramps, sinkholes, and jumps you'll need to maneuver your top around and over to make it to the other side.

Whichever side you chose, you'll start spinning the top at the indicated starting point at the top of the board. Then carefully lift the board and tilt it to navigate your top to the other side of the board. But, tilt too far and the top will fall off and you'll have to start again.

In the Stratus Maze, make it to the center of the board and you can go one of three routes. Move to the outer right edge to take the easier route. Go to the left and avoid the sinkholes. Or, for the biggest challenge, balance the top as you move across the narrow center ramp. Make it to the end to finish the maze.

Is It Fun?

This maze game is both addictive and fun. It takes a certain amount of skill to move around the board, but with multiple paths to choose and boards to play on, it's a game that offers a lot of repeat play and will continue to challenge your eye and your agility.
