Surf's Up, SpongeBob! / Runaway Roadtrip Review (Random House)

What It Is

SpongeBob SquarePants fans can get two books in one with Surf's Up, SpongeBob!/Runaway Roadtrip. This two-in-one book also includes four pages of 50 SpongeBob stickers in the middle.

On one side of the book, kids can read Surf's Up, SpongeBob! The story is by David Lewman and adapted by Ellen Rosebrough with illustrations by Heather Martinez. In the story, SpongeBob agrees to go surfing with Sandy even though he doesn't know how. But Patrick, who always wears surfer shorts, comes to the rescue and teaches SpongeBob how to surf, even surfing in Squidward's bathtub for practice. But SpongeBob is still so scared that he decides to break his surfboard on purpose and pretend that a wave did it so he won't have to surf anymore. However, while trying to break his board, he ends up riding the waves like a pro.

Flip the book over for the story Runaway Roadtrip, which is based on the SpongeBob episode "SpongeBob's Runaway Roadtrip". In this story, adapted by Veronica Paz and Ellen Rosebrough with illustrations by Dave Aikens, SpongeBob invites his friends over to watch a slideshow of his family vacation. Not only do readers get to see SpongeBob's vacation, but they also get to see vacation pictures from Mr. Krab and Sandy.

Is It Fun?

SpongeBob SquarePants fans will enjoy reading about familiar episodes of the animated series. This is a fun way for fans to get two SpongeBob stories in one, and kids will love playing with the stickers to recreate the stories they've just read or tell their own stories.
