Mirari Pop! Pop! Piano Review (PlayMonster)

What It Is

The Pop! Pop! Piano is part of the new baby line of toys called Mirari, which means "wonder" in Latin. This toy has a sleek European design and feel, and mom and dad won't mind if it's left too long on the coffee table when guests come over. But for babies it's got lots of exploratory play. Each of the colored tubes has a plastic star that sits in it. When baby presses the keys, he or she will hear sounds and watch as the stars pop out of the tubes. You can have classic piano sounds or silly sound effects. The plastic dome can be removed to allow the stars to bounce freely and encourage kids to be a little more active as they chase the stars and put them back.

Is It Fun?

Younger kids will like the random play and building and awareness of cause and effect as they hit the keys. As they get older, they'll love creating different types of games and challenges, such as trying to get the stars in a particular order or moving the stars from one tube to the other. They'll also enjoy the basic music play, making up tunes, and exploring the different sounds. This is also a great toy for co-play with a parents or caregiver and can inspire interaction and games that you make up. So, while this looks simple and beautiful, it's also an entertaining way to encourage lots of sight and sound exploration that puts kids right where they should be: at the center of the play experience.
