LEGO The Lord of the Rings Pirate Ship Ambush Review (LEGO)

What It Is

Kids can ambush the Sauron Army with The Lord of the Rings Pirate Ship Ambush building set. Using this set's 756 pieces, kids build a pirate ship with three large sails, a removable rear section with dungeon, crossbows, and flick missiles. There is also a firing Orc catapult on wheels. Set the battle in motion with the nine minifigures: Aragorn, Legolas Greenleaf, Gimli, two Mordor Orcs, the King of the Dead, two Soldiers of the Dead, and a Pirate of Umbar. The King of the Dead and the Soldiers of the Dead glow in the dark. Weapons include three swords, three crossbows, three spears, an axe, a long axe, a bow with quiver, and a longbow. Accessories include 10 plain shields, 14 decorated shields, shackles, two torches, two keys, a rat, bread, a diamond, coins, maps, goblets, and a chain. This set is compatible with all other LEGO The Lord of the Rings sets, which are sold separately.

Who It’s For

Pirate Ship Ambush is for The Lord of the Rings fans ages 9–14.

What To Be Aware Of

This took us two hours and 20 minutes to build. The instructions were very easy to follow. The pieces are divided into six bags, with specific instructions for how to build using the pieces in each bag. Do not mix pieces from the different bags or building will be confusing.

The pirate ship does not float in water.
