Twisterz Alphabet Matcher Review (Smart Toys and Games)

What It Is

Twisterz are durable, handheld, battery-free toys that combine early learning skills, such as spelling, language, reading, problem-solving, and logic, with fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. With the Twisterz Alphabet Matcher, children are challenged to choose a letter and find the five images that begin with that letter. Twisterz Alphabet Matcher comes with four sets of colored rings that cover 24 letters and 120 images. To start, turn a letter ring to line up a letter next to the arrow on the left handle. Then turn the next five rings until you find pictures that start with that letter. Each ring has one picture to match the letter. For instance, if you select the letter "R", you could find pictures of a raccoon, ruler, rat, rainbow, and rocket. An answer guide is included. To play with new letters and pictures, just unscrew the right handle, remove all six rings, and place six new rings on the Twisterz.

Other ways to play include mixing the rings from the different colored sets to make new groups to line up, such as animals, food, shapes, etc. Or kids can line up any six picture rings and make up stories using those pictures.

Is It Fun?

This is the sort of toy that engages kids in the educational component when mom or dad plays along with the child. Parents can show kids how to play with this toy the first time and encourage children to pronounce each letter and picture as they are lined up. We like that there are different ways to play with this toy and that the compact size makes it easy to take on the go.

Who It’s For

The Twisterz Alphabet Matcher is for ages 3 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Younger kids might need some help figuring out what some of the pictures are. A picture of an ice cream cone will probably be pretty easy for a preschooler to figure out, but a picture of a vulture or a ship's anchor might be harder.

Twisterz Alphabet Matcher is available in specialty toy stores.
