Backyard Safari Outfitters Scoop Net Review (Summit Toys)

What It Is

With the Backyard Safari Outfitters Scoop Net, kids can have fun catching outdoor critters, such as butterflies, crawfish, bugs, lizards, snakes, frogs, and fish. Whether used in water or out of water, the Scoop Net's strong nylon mesh is sturdy and light. The net also floats. The Scoop Net from top of net to bottom of handle measures 20 inches long.

Is It Fun?

For kids who like to explore the great outdoors, this is a fun and functional tool for them to use. It allows kids to get up close and personal with different critters inside and outside of water. You don't have to use the net to catch critters, though. This net is also going to be used to catch younger siblings and in all kinds of creative play either indoors or outdoors.

Who It’s For

The Backyard Safari Outfitters Scoop Net is for ages 5 and up. It is for kids who aren't afraid of touching lizards and frogs, and who are interested in the world around them.

What To Be Aware Of

We're a little surprised that Summit Toys put on the packaging that you can use this net to catch snakes. Maybe a garden snake is okay, but young kids might not be able to tell the difference between a garden snake and something a little more dangerous. It's important for parents to set ground rules about what is appropriate to catch and where it is appropriate to observe the catch. Most parents probably don't want their kids bringing lizards and frogs inside the house, so be sure to make this an outdoor activity.
