Mine! Review (Alfred A. Knopf)

What It Is

With a story by Shutta Crum and pictures by Patrice Barton, Mine! is a playful, picture-based board book about two very young children and an adorable dog navigating the troubles and triumphs of sharing. The only text in the book is the word "mine" with the occasional "woof" (from the dog). With so little text, it's really the illustrations that speak volumes in this 30-page book about how one child tries to take all the toys from another child only to find out that playing together is really the most fun.

Is It Fun?

This wordless picture book helps parents introduce young children to the concept of sharing while also asking young readers to "read" the images of the book and use their imaginations to create the narrative for the action in their minds. This book is perfect for the youngest children who may not have the skills to read on their own.

Who It’s For

Mine! is for ages 2–5.
