Big Girl Panties Review (Robin Corey Books)

Big Girl Panties
What It Is

Big Girl Panties, written by Fran Manushkin and illustrated by Valeria Petrone, takes a light, positive approach to motivate toddlers to become toilet trained. The simple rhyming text throughout this 24-page board book tells the story of a little girl who is so excited to get rid of diapers and wear big girl panties. There are panties labeled with the days of the week, panties in fun patterns, and even panties that sparkle. The little girl takes a break from prancing and dancing in her panties to tell a baby sibling and a stuffed crocodile that they cannot wear panties, though mommies, grandmas, and aunties can. At the end of the book, the little girl addresses the reader, saying, "You're a big girl, too!"

Is It Fun?

The illustrations in this book are colorful and fun and really capture the little girl's excitement about wearing big girl panties. This is a fun book for little girls who are at the potty-training age, and, hopefully, the main character's enthusiasm will get girls excited about saying bye-bye to diapers and wearing big girl panties, too.
