mamaRoo Review (4moms)

What It Is

The mamaRoo is a cross between a bouncy seat and an infant swing. It is used to soothe baby to sleep. Strap your baby into the seat using the safety harness, then plug the mamaRoo into an outlet (It doesn't run on batteries.) and set it in motion. mamaRoo has five different motions: car ride, kangaroo, tree swing, rock-a-bye, and ocean wave. There are five speeds for each motion. There are also five nature sounds, or parents can use the included MP3 adapter to hook up their MP3 player and play any music they'd like for their baby.

A hanging mobile gives babies something to look at while they sit in the mamaRoo. The mobile does not spin, but it does include three removable soft balls. One side of the balls is black and white and the other side is in bright colors for visual stimulation.

The mamaRoo has six, removable machine washable fabrics to choose from: blue plush, multi plush, silver plush, green plush, classic black, and classic silver. Each is sold separately. The mamaRoo with any of the plush fabrics retails for $239.99, while the mamaRoo with either the classic black or classic silver retails for $199.99.

Why Is It Useful?

The five motions and soothing nature sounds of the mamaRoo help lull a baby to sleep. Parents will like that the fabrics are machine washable and that the mobile offers visual stimulation for babies before they fall asleep. We found that not all babies will love this product, but some will. It depends on your baby and what kinds of motion he or she likes and what will put your baby to sleep.

Who It’s For

The mamaRoo is for ages birth and up, until the baby reaches 25 pounds or can sit up unassisted.

What To Be Aware Of

The classic black and classic silver fabrics are made of canvas and not as comfortable as the plush fabrics.
