Dino Dan Bonus Pack Review (Geoworld)

Dino Dan Bonus Pack
What It Is

Based on the Nick Jr. show Dino Dan, this is part of a new line of toys based on the show. The toys are designed to allow kids to pretend to interact with dinosaurs, just as Dan does on the show. There are four dinosaurs to choose from in the Bonus Pack collection: Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, and Brachiosaurus. Each is sold separately. In each Bonus Pack, kids receive a dinosaur model with moving parts and a full-length Dino Dan episode along with a special access code. Just press your finger to the black area on the information card to reveal the access code, then enter the code at DinoDan.com.

Is It Fun?

Dino Dan follows the adventures of a little boy, Dan, who is fascinated by dinosaurs and imagines seeing them in his real world. If kids are fans of the show, then they'll like collecting these dinosaur figures. The figures are very detailed, but we're not sure that the dinosaurs' bright colors are really representative of actual dinosaurs. (Perhaps the bright colors are to attract kids' attentions.) The information cards, though, give kids a more accurate and brief overview of the dinosaurs.

Who It’s For

The Dino Dan Bonus Pack is for ages 5 and up. This is probably best for young kids who like the show and the colors of the dinosaurs. Older kids are likely to want something less whimsical if they are playing dinosaurs.

What To Be Aware Of

The Dino Dan Bonus Pack is available at Toys "R" Us and ToysRUs.com.

We noted that the box said "paleontologist approved." The box features the name of the Royal Tyrell Museum, a Canadian dinosaur museum, but no other information was readily available. However, GeoWorld says that the Dino Dan toy line was designed by Italian paleontologist and geologist Dr. Stefano Piccini.

We were interested to find out where the bright colors on the dinosaurs came from in the show and in the toys, but we couldn't find any information that would indicate this was an accurate representation. (This, however, is true of any dinosaurs. We're all just guessing.)
