London 2012 Bananagrams Review (Bananagrams)

London 2012 Bananagrams
What It Is

In celebration of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Bananagrams is getting an Olympics twist. London 2012 Bananagrams is a special-edition version that plays just like the original Bananagrams, but it includes five colored "joker" tiles featuring pictorgrams of various Olympic sports: boxing, rowing, swimming, running, and cycling. The "joker" tiles can be used as any letter.

London 2012 Bananagrams is a fast-paced anagram tile game that requires no pencil, paper, or board. It comes in a small portable banana-shaped pouch with the London 2012 logo on each side. Players race against each other to build crossword grids and use all their letter tiles. To start the game, place all 149 tiles facedown on the center of the table. The number of tiles each player picks depends on the number of players. (The game is for two or more players.) Leftover tiles remain in the center of the table. Once everyone has their letter tiles, one player says, "Split!" and all players turn their tiles face-up and proceed to form their own collection of connecting and intersecting words. When a player has none of his original letters left, that player says, "Peel" and takes another tile. All the other players must then take another tile, too. Once all the leftover tiles are gone, the first player to use all his letters shouts, "Bananas!" and is the winner of that hand.

Is It Fun?

London 2012 Bananagrams is a fast-paced word game with some similarities to Scrabble. The cloth storage pouch makes it easy to take this game on the go. London 2012 Bananagrams offers the same fun gameplay for fans of the original version, and it's also a unique collectible for fans of the summer Olympics.
