William & Catherine Royal Wedding Giftset Review (Mattel)

What It Is

On April 29, 2011, more than 3 million people tuned in around the world to watch the royal wedding of Kate and William. Everyone wanted to feel like they were some small part of the festivities. Now collectors and fans can make that fairytale moment last forever with the William & Catherine Royal Wedding Giftset, part of the Barbie Collector line. The two dolls wear wedding day attire inspired by the couple's original outfits. Prince William is dressed in a traditional Colonel of the Irish Guards uniform complete with a red jacket, blue sash, metallic cumberbund, and golden detailing. He also wears the garter sash and star and the Golden Jubilee medal. The Catherine Middleton doll wears a floor-length ivory gown inspired by the original designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. The dress features a lace torso and full skirt. Her look is completed with a delicate ivory veil, sparkling tiara (a replica of the Queen's Halo Tiara, which was made by Cartier in 1936 and loaned to Kate on her wedding day), and matching drop earrings.
