Weekend Box Office: John Who?

It looks Disney should have sent the Lorax to Mars because nobody cared what John Carter was doing up there.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax took the number one spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row with another $39.1 million. This week’s new release, John Carter, did worse than expectations (and hopes) with $30.6 million in it’s opening weekend. I think the movie looks like it could be good but the marketing for it was all over the place. The commercials made it look like an action flick but clips shown on talk shows played it up as a comedy. The only thing missing from all the marketing was mention of the planet Mars and who John Carter is.
