Piglet Saves the Day is a board book with 20 illustrated pages of Pooh and his friends. It's part of LeapFrog's Get Ready to Read series, and it's compatible with the LeapReader Junior, which is sold separately. There are more than 150 touchpoints in the book that your child can hear using his LeapReader Junior Book Pal. You'll hear audio from pretty much any part of the page the Book Pal touches. The book tells the story of an unwitting Winnie the Pooh being lured into a trap, and then each of the characters subsequently joining him in the hole. Piglet is the last to fall in the hole, and before he does, he tries to find ways to get his friends out. At one point, this leads to him being alone and frightened in some scary-looking woods. Eventually, he too falls into the hole, and they all get out by climbing up different letters.
We like how interactive this book is, however, this particular story is a bit confusing and scary at times. As the characters climb out of the hole, kids learn those letters, but it's confusing where the letters came from in the story. Because even we were slightly confused by the plot, it would be difficult for kids in the recommended age range of 1-3 to follow, especially on their own. You really have to hit most of the touchpoints to be able to follow the story because the text isn't enough. Also, the story ends with Piglet's friends saying how brave he is. He may be brave but despite his best efforts, he didn't really save the day as the title claims.
Piglet Saves the Day is for ages 1-3.
You will need to have your LeapReader Junior set up with your computer and the audio for Piglet Saves the Day downloaded onto the Book Pal in order to use it with this book.
