Smakaball is a game of catch that uses two plastic-and-foam rings and a large inflatable ball. The object of the game is to smack the ball to one player who then must try and catch the ball in his ring. Kids can also make up their own games to play with Smakaball. The ring's handles are designed to make it easier for any age to hold and more easily catch the ball. The game can be played on land or in the pool.
This looks cool but it was actually disappointing. Assembly was not as easy as the directions made it seem. Assembling the rings requires a lot of force and should be done by an adult. Inflating the ball was almost impossible. We tried blowing into it and using a pump, and it took forever to inflate. Then, when we thought it was fully inflated, we tried to play the game and found that the ball was too small and went right through the rings. We tried giving the ball a bear hug and adding more air, per the instructions, to no avail. We repeated these steps with a second ball, and that one was also too small for the rings. The directions even say that "brand new balls may be hard to fully blow up," which isn't helpful because everyone who buys this will be getting a brand new ball.
You could just hit the ball around without the rings, sort of like a beach ball, which would be fun. But that kind of defeats the purpose of this set.
Smakaball is for ages 6 and up.
Be careful not to use your Smakaball around sharp objects that could puncture the material. If you do puncture the ball or just want a second ball to add to your set, you can purchase additional balls separately.
