The Strandbeast is a radio-controlled eight-legged robotic creature. There really aren't any instructions for how to operate it, but it's highly intuitive, so that's no problem. Switch on the robot and the controller and go to town. One button controls two sets of legs, the other button the other two legs. When just one set is moving, it will turn the robot in one direction or the other. To go forward or backwards, push both buttons at once. Couldn't be simpler. And, of course, that's when the fun starts because you can make it run all over the place, and the gliding movement is really entertaining. Plus, the robot has two channels so kids can put two together for interaction-and battling, of course. There are five different colors available: dark blue, red, yellow, green, and teal.
Like all the Innovation First robots, this deceptively simple toy offers tons of satisfying and engaging play.
The Hexbug Strandbeast is for ages 8 and up.
The robot takes four button-cell batteries, and the remote takes two, all of which are included.
