FarFaria is an iOS and Android app that offers a library of more than 600 classic and contemporary picture books, with five new books being added each week. The app is free to download and gives kids access to one free book a day. For a $3.99 monthly subscription, kids get unlimited access to the FarFaria library.
The library is broken up into 11 themed worlds, such as Animal Kingdom, which features stories all about animals; Classics Grove, which includes classic fairytales and other stories; and SingAlong City, where you'll find a variety of familiar sing-along songs. The books are also divided into five reading levels: P for ages birth and up, 1 for beginning readers in preschool and kindergarten, 2 for progressing readers in kindergarten through second grade, 3 for early fluent readers in first through third grade, and 4 for fluent readers in second through fourth grade. With each book, kids can choose to have it read aloud, or turn off narration to read it themselves, or have a parent read it aloud.
Kids will love exploring the different lands of FarFaria and discovering old and new favorite stories in this app. The multiple reading levels make it easy for kids and parents to find books that are just right, helping to build a young reader's confidence in her reading abilities. The reading levels also turn FarFaria into an app that will grow with your child through many years.
FarFaria is for ages 2-9, but parents, of course, can read the P-level books to children younger than 2. The app contains no pop-up ads or prompts to purchase additional apps.
There is a parent button on the homepage that, if pressed, requires an adult to enter in their birth year. This is designed to prevent kids under 14 from accessing this section.
This app is compatible with iPad running iOS 5.0 or later and Android devices running 4.0.3 or later.
