LEGO Ninjago Lloyd's Legendary Dragon Review (LEGO)

LEGO Ninjago Lloyd's Legendary Dragon
What It Is

Lloyd's Legendary Dragon is 747 pieces and will take you no more than a couple hours to build. After you're done, you'll have the titular legendary dragon, a ballista, and 4 minifigs, Lloyd, Nya, Python Dynamite, and Viper Flier. Accessories include Nya's Naginata, a multitude of swords, a flight pack, and dynamite.

This dragon is nearly flawless! Not only is the build a lot of fun, but the finished product approximates the look of scales in a really fun way. Take note of the back of the head and haunches. The wings and stickers also help elevate the level of detail. The color scheme is striking, with green, navy blue, and gold, as well as light blue accents. Poseability can be found in the jaw, neck, front legs and feet, back legs and feet, the entire tail and the wings. Flap the wings by moving the lever just behind the saddle. This is nice, since you only need one finger to do so. Easily the most versatile area of articulation is in the legs. You can have the dragon looking stalwart and dignified, ferocious, or curious and playful, like a dog. It's VERY cute. As robust as the articulation is, the knee joints are static, limiting the possibilities somewhat. The saddle is removable, and can accommodate two minifigs, so Lloyd can bring a friend. The ballista accessory can fire a missile, but please. It's no match for Lloyd's Legendary Dragon.

Is It Fun?

The build may be fun, but that amusement is eclipsed by the final product. The poseability of the dragon and the abundance of accessories make this an excellent self-contained Ninjago set.

Who It’s For
