Although this is a new figure, Sun-Man himself was invented back in 1985 by Yla Eason, a Rutgers University professor and mother, who saw a desperate need for diversity in the toy space. This figure marks the official integration of Sun-Man and the Rulers of the Sun into the Masters of the Universe canon. As such, the figure comes with a beautifully illustrated fold-out comic detailing Sun Man’s origin. Sun-Man’s design is both unique and also congruent with the Masters of the Universe aesthetic. His attire incorporates red-orange, yellow, green, and black, which is a super appealing combination. The plastic is sturdy and high quality, and the paint applications are extremely clean. We take particular note of the premium glossy metallic finish on the chest armor.

The figure comes with 2 interchangeable hands, two copies of his Sun Shield and Sword, two translucent yellow fire effects, a wing cape, and an interchangeable head. Swapping parts is simple for both the head and hands, and Sun-Man is articulated in the head, shoulders, elbows, waist, thighs, knees, and ankles. The articulation is more robust than old school He-Man toys and it poses fairly well, but some of the joints can be a little bit loose, which is mainly an issue when Sun-Man is holding his flaming sword.
