Darth Vader’s Meditation Chamber comes in 663 pieces and is not an overly long build, taking no more than a couple of hours to complete. Once done, the look is menacing. The mostly black construction is nicely detailed with steps, panels, and ridges that fade in and out, depending on the lighting, and the angle at which you look. The interior is a clean white, with a rotating seat in the middle, surrounded by control panels. The display monitor in the back is a very cool detail; the inclusion of a clear blue panel over the picture is an inspired touch. You can recreate the brutal scene from Empire Strikes Back, to strangely, humorous effect.

The main event, of course, is the adjustable meditation chamber itself! Each claw rotates on a ratcheted joint, enabling you to open or close the hatch. The top is adjustable, and stays in place through its own weight via an ingenious ball and socket system. It does dangle a little loosely, which can get frustrating when you’re trying to get the exact right setting. Once you do, the effect is well worth it. A Darth Vader minifig is included, complete with lightsaber, as is a minifig of General Veers. What good is Vader’s meditation chamber without someone to bother him? There’s even a small stud where you can place the unfortunate officer sent to pester Lord Vader.

Should I get it?

Absolutely, this set is fun! The build is relaxing, and the final product looks great. The top segment can be a little wobbly, but that’s a minor issue.
