OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

The Flying Lesson has three minifigs of Madam Hooch, Draco Malfoy, Neville Longbottom, and a 20th anniversary Professor Quirrell. The structure is not only nicely detailed, it can come apart and be rearranged! You also get clear rods to display Neville and Draco flying on their broomsticks.

Hogwarts Fluffy Encounter recreates the harrowing scene from the first movie. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are included, plus a 20th anniversary Hermione. Fluffy has molded faces, but a brick-built body. The aesthetics are a bit clashy, but it does allow Fluffy to have articulation in the legs. Apart from that, it comes with a spire, harp, and structure with a trap door and lower floor.

Polyjuice Potion Mistake is a recreation of the transformation scene in Chamber of Secrets, appropriately, at the entrance to said chamber. All three minifigs have alternate forms, Harry can become Goyle, Ron can become Crabbe, and poor Hermione turns her face into a cat's. Anniversary Harry comes in this set. The architecture of this set is super cool, especially the sinks. The stall door can open, and the middle sink can move to reveal the staircase down into the chamber of secrets.

Another scene from Sorcerer's Stone, Hogwarts Wizard Chess, is up next. The intrepid trio come in this set too, but wearing their street clothes. Anniversary Snape is included this time. This set is brilliant! You get a full set of chess pieces, completely crafted out of LEGO bricks. The abstraction of each piece is fascinating to observe. You could play an actual chess game with the completed set, if you so wanted.

Lastly, we have Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets, the biggest set of the bunch. This comes with a whopping 11 minifigs, with characters such as Dumbledore, Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood, Tom Riddle, and many more. Anniversary Voldemort comes with this set. You also get a bigfig of the Basilisk. The set is magnificent in scale and appearance. From the dignified facade to the intricate interior, this set pulls out all the stops. The great hall is replicated wonderfully, with Salazar's somber face hidden down in the depths below. The castle can be taken apart and rearranged to either help recreate your favorite scenes, or make something all your own! Of the many accessories you get, our favorites have to be the boxes of pixie puffs and cheery owls, and the Sword of Gryffindor.

Build time is modest for most of these sets. The largest set, The Chamber of Secrets, should take you no more than 3 hours to build. There are a lot of accessories with these sets, so have a baggie or some other means of storage handy.

Is It Fun?

All of these sets are great fun if you're a Harry Potter fan. The inclusion of key characters, spot-on recreation of iconic scenes, and multitude of accessories make these sets worthy 20th Anniversary celebrations.
