Keep kids entertained without using a screen with the Yoto Player. Kids control their listening with this smart speaker by inserting physical cards into the Yoto to hear a variety of different audio content, from music and books to activities and podcasts.
In the box you get the Yoto Player, a charger, a welcome card, and a quick set-up guide. While charging the Player, download the free Yoto app and create an account to pair your smartphone with the Player and connect the Player to wifi. Two adults can register on the same account. Personalize your Player with a name, set sleep and wake times, and choose what you want the clock to look like on the Player's digital display.
When you're ready to play, just insert a card into the top of the Player. The always-expanding library of content includes books from beloved children's authors, such as Roald Dahl; music; activities; podcasts; radio from around the world; and sound effects. You'll also find free content within the app. And with Create Your Own cards, users can create their own bedtime stories and silly sounds, or link favorite MP3s. The included Welcome Card becomes a Create Your Own card after set-up. You can also play content through the app by tapping a card to the back of a compatible smartphone.
Use the two buttons on top of the Player to skip forward and backward, navigate through tracks, and adjust the volume. There's also a headphone jack on the side. To pause or stop the audio, just remove the card.
Once a card has been played in the Yoto Player, it becomes part of your in-app library. From the app, you can choose to play a card's content through your phone and then connecting it to any Bluetooth speaker, including your car, for listening on the go.
If you want to use the Yoto Player as an alarm clock and nightlight, give the power button a short press to go to Sleep Player mode. A long press of the power button turns the unit off and on.
Families who want to keep their kids entertained and engaged in creative play away from a TV or phone screen will like what the Yoto Player has to offer. Kids will like that they're still using technology to play their favorite stories and songs, and parents will like that the technology encourages learning and imaginative play. When combined with the app, Yoto gives kids access to all of this great content from anywhere - at home or on the go.
How does it do as a speaker? The sound quality is great, and it's easy to figure out the controls.
The Yoto Player is for ages 3 and up, with content suitable for children from birth to 12 years old.
The Yoto app is free on iOS and Android devices.
Only a Welcome card is included with the Player. Additional Yoto audio cards are sold separately, and free content can be accessed through the app.
To create your own card, you will need to access the internet to upload your preferred audio.
The Yoto Player gets about three hours of continuous play from a full charge, and five to eight hours on standby.
