OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Eating candy is fun. Playing with slime is fun. So why not bring the two together with Foodie Surprise eggs? Both Yolkies and Candy Slime versions are blind-packaged plastic eggs with edible slime inside.

When you crack open a Yolkies egg, you'll find a candy slime egg white and a gummy yolk inside, plus a Yolkies character in a surprise costume hiding in the bottom of the egg. There are 12 Yolkies to collect in series 1, with costumes ranging from a red pepper to a carton of milk. A collector's guide helps you keep track of which characters you've got. While you can't remove the costumes, you can give the Yolkies heads a little squeeze. They're kind of made of a squishy, rubbery material, while the rest of the figure is hard plastic.

The Candy Slime eggs are all about discovering which mystery slime flavor is inside and which edible mix-ins you get to add. There might be edible glitter, pastel pearls, blue crystals, or candy flowers. Use the included shovel to mix everything together. There are six slime flavors in season 1. While there is no guide to tell you what the flavor options are, if you look at the ingredients list, you'll be able to figure it out. We tasted strawberry and blueberry.

With both of these, you can keep your slime stored in the egg container until you're done eating it. Though, we're sure kids will down it all in one go.

Is It Fun?

These are going to be great to include in Easter baskets because of the egg-shaped packaging, the candy inside, and the fun unboxing surprise. The Yolkies probably have more repeat play because of the Yolkies characters to collect and play with, while the Candy Slime is just going to be eaten. We liked the Candy Slime flavors better than the Yolkies flavor. But either one will be a fun and tasty experience for kids who like eating candy and playing with slime.

Who It’s For

The Foodie Surprise eggs are for ages 6 and up. Kids who like eating candy and playing with slime will like the combination of the two.

What To Be Aware Of

Yes, this is real food. The packaging doesn't say anything about food allergens.

We wish the Candy Slime eggs had flat bottoms to make it easier to add the mix-ins to the candy slime.
