LEGO Duplo Playable Boxes Bedroom and Playroom Review (LEGO)

LEGO Duplo Playable Boxes Bedroom and Playroom
What It Is

Everything inside the new LEGO Duplo Playable Boxes becomes part of the play, including the box. The interior of the house-shaped boxes is printed with balloons and banners for the Playroom set's birthday party scene or clouds and stars for the Bedroom set's playdate scene.

The 17-piece Playroom creates a birthday party with two Duplo figures, a brick topped with two cupcakes, a brick decorated like a present, and two balloons for a figure to hold. Other pieces include a rocking horse accessory, a brick with the numbers 1-10 printed on it, two chair bricks, a brick with an opening drawer, and a brick with an opening door. Three additional solid blue bricks and a base plate are also included.

The 16-piece Bedroom is a place of play for the two Duplo figures. Bunk beds with a slide give the room a playful vibe. But when it's time for a nap, cover up with the white or triangle-patterned blankets. Either piece of fabric could also be used as a bedroom rug. The set also includes a teddy bear figure, a guitar, and a clock brick to prompt storytelling. Because it is a bedroom, there's a brick with a drawer and a chair. A baseplate and two additional bricks are also included for building.

Neither of these sets includes building instructions. Kids are encouraged to build however they want and create whatever stories they can imagine.

Is It Fun?

These sets are very cute, and we like that the packaging does triple duty: box, playset, and storage. Either of these sets would be a great "first" LEGO set for toddlers and preschoolers, helping little ones build fine motor skills and inspiring a lot of creative storytelling.

Who It’s For

Both of these Duplo sets are for ages 2 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

The Bedroom set is sold separately from the Playroom set.
