OVERALL EDITOR'S RATING:
What It Is

Your spider sense will be tingling when you play with the new LEGO Marvel Spider-Man construction sets.

Spider-Man's uniform gets an upgrade with the Spider-Man Mech suit, model number 76146. Using 152 pieces, kids build a poseable mech suit that stands five inches tall with space for the Spider-Man minifigure to ride. The suit has poseable fingers and spider legs, plus a spot to attach a blast of web. Two web blast accessories are included, and both can also be attached to the Spider-Man minifigure's hands. There's also an accessory piece that appears to be web handcuffs, which you can put on the arms of a bad guy minifigure from your collection.

The Menace of Mysterio, model number 76149, lets even young Spider-Man fans build some action. For ages 4 and up, this 163-piece set builds out a bank robbery scene with Spider-Man and Ghost Spider battling Mysterio. Kids get to build Mysterio's Mighty Mech, with tread-style wheels, moving arms and fingers, and space inside for the Mysterio minifigure to ride. Along with his fabric cape, the new-for-January-2020 Mysterio also includes green laser accessories that kids can pretend to fire from his hands. There's also a buildable Spider-Copter with spinning propellers and poseable spider legs for capturing the bad guys. Open up the cockpit and place the Spider-Man minifigure inside. Spider-Man also includes a web blast accessory that, of course, can be shared with the Ghost Spider minifigure. She has a removable hood and a purple skateboard with real rolling wheels. Mysterio uses the dynamite accessory to blow up the bank vault, and he can pull out the door with his mech claws. Inside the vault are two removable containers of colorful gems and gold bricks.

Is It Fun?

Both of these sets will be perfect for inspiring imaginative action-packed play among Spider-Man fans young and old. They feature characters and villains that kids are familiar with from some of the recent Spider-Man movies, and with new builds and minifigures, there's definitely a collectible aspect, too.

Who It’s For

Both of these sets will be fun for LEGO and Spider-Man fans. The Mech set is for ages 6 and up, while the Mysterio set is for ages 4 and up.
