NASCAR Shake N' Steer Review (Walmart)

NASCAR Shake N' Steer
What It Is

Drive like your favorite NASCAR racer, sort of, with the Adventure Force NASCAR Shake N' Steer. This interactive steering wheel puts kids in control of the race, with different buttons to press that activate realistic sound effects, phrases, lights, and even wheel vibration.

The blue steering wheel has a leather lookalike grip and pretend gauges for temperature, RPMs, fuel, and Nitro Boost. It also shows the number 53 on it, a car most recently driven by Rick Ware.

Turn it on and the speedometer lights up while engine sounds play and the steering wheel shakes. Press the "Go" button when you're ready to put the pedal to the metal. Press the "Max Horsepower" button for more sounds, lights, and shaking. The "Stop" button will slam on the brakes, and the "Pit Stop" button gives you time to refuel. And you'll be able to hear from your Pit Crew when you press the headphones button. Press the "NASCAR" horn for even more phrases, lights, and sounds. The wheel will also respond to movement.

If you turn on the steering wheel and don't press any buttons, the light-up display will call out driving directions by lighting up an icon on the display. If you see the "Go" button lit up, press "Go." If you see "Pit Stop" lit up, press "Pit Stop." There are no consequences for pressing the wrong button or not pressing one at all, but if you get it right, the steering wheel will vibrate and the display will light up. Then, another challenge will play. Three correct challenges in a row wins, which means you'll hear cheering sounds, the checkered flags will light up, and the announcer will speak.

Is It Fun?

We can see young car fans having fun pretending to drive with this, whether they're playing at home or doing some backseat driving in the car. The lights and sounds bring the racing adventures to life, and the variety of buttons to press allows kids to create their own races. The NASCAR styling will definitely appeal to young NASCAR fans.

Who It’s For

This interactive steering wheel is for NASCAR fans ages 3 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

This includes three AA batteries for the in-store try-me features. You might want to replace them before you play for best results.

The instructions make it seem like the challenges are a separate mode that you have to enter, but they just start when you turn on the steering wheel.
